Aging is painful

After going to the baby store, we went to visit hubby's great aunt. She will be 97 years old next month. She's not doing well in the past days. She lost her appetite and were not eating healthy. We were delighted to know that she's doing just fine and demanded on a chicken salad from her favorite pizzeria as soon as we got in her house. She barely gets herself out of her bed as she complains she's getting tired. Getting old is tough. That's what she would always say. Don't grow old, she would tell me. I can see how much she has lost weight and how slow she is getting. Her modesty is also fading. It's sad. She doesn't have kids and a husband because they are long gone way ahead of her. It's really scary when you reach that old without a family and no one watches you all day - in this country anyway. A nurse aid comes to check on her occasionally, still it worries us whether she would be fine when left alone.
